This book is very self-referentially complete; that is, it is everything that it says it is, and nothing more or less. This made it philosophically a wonderful read, and injected a lot of humor into the proceedings.It gave me exactly what I was looking for, which is a complete and thorough understanding of the disease which is boomeritis. As a late boomer myself, I somehow managed to miss the direct experience of a lot of this insanity, but living in America in the late 20th century has left me exposed to many of the resultant effects, which have often puzzled me. Perhaps the best example is, as a youngster who saw the flowering of the "love generation" just miles away in Berkeley/San Francisco, I have always wondered why it fizzled out, rather than blossoming as it seemed obvious, to me at least, that it should (based on a nascent sense of evolutionary development on my part, I see now). This book showed me exactly why, where and when the whole thing ran aground, which, though not being the outcome I wanted, at least explains what happened. And, it gives a much clearer path forward, based on a truer understanding of the events and the evolutionary unfolding involved.And the author has managed, by so completely indulging his ego, to create one of the most self-less works of fiction I have ever read. In this fashion it is a great work of art. While I feel I could say more about this, really just reading the book is the best way to experience this.
